When you donate, we send a professional tow partner right to your home, driveway, or parking spot anywhere in Metro Atlanta—whether you’re in Midtown, Buckhead, Decatur, Sandy Springs, East Point, or beyond. Your donated vehicle is picked up at no cost to you, then the proceeds support Heritage for the Blind’s mission to help people who are blind or visually impaired—right here in your broader community.
From intown neighborhoods like Grant Park, West End, Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, and Virginia-Highland, to suburbs such as Marietta, Smyrna, Roswell, Alpharetta, Duluth, and Mableton, we coordinate a convenient time to collect your car, truck, SUV, or van. We also reach outlying areas around Metro Atlanta, working with local tow operators who know the traffic, tight streets, and parking rules. You don’t need to drive anywhere, fix your vehicle, or handle buyers. Just schedule, sign your title, and we handle the rest—including your IRS-ready tax receipt.
How to schedule your free local pickup
1. Tell us about your vehicle and Atlanta location
Share a few details about your car—year, make, model, condition—and where it’s located in Metro Atlanta. Whether you’re in Downtown, College Park, Stone Mountain, or Kennesaw, we’ll confirm that your address is within our free pickup zone and start planning the best tow option for your area.
2. Choose a convenient free pickup time
We work with local tow partners across Atlanta to find a day and time window that fits your schedule. Dense areas like Midtown or Little Five Points may have tighter access, while suburbs like Johns Creek or Powder Springs offer more flexibility, but in all cases we coordinate a free, at-your-door pickup.
3. Prepare keys, title, and parking access
Before pickup, place the keys somewhere accessible and have your Georgia title ready to sign over. Make sure your car is in a spot the tow truck can reach—like a driveway, reserved space, or street parking that allows loading in your Atlanta neighborhood or complex.
4. Meet the tow driver (or arrange a no-contact handoff)
On pickup day, a local tow operator arrives at your Atlanta-area address, confirms your paperwork, and loads the vehicle. If you can’t be home, we’ll work with you to arrange a secure key drop and signing instructions, as allowed by Georgia rules and your property’s access needs.
5. Receive your IRS-ready donation receipt by mail
After your vehicle is sold, you’ll receive a tax receipt for at least $500 from Heritage for the Blind. If your car sells for more than $500, you’ll get the documentation needed to complete IRS Form 1098-C for your federal tax records.
Local pickup gotchas
Tight Atlanta streets, alleys, and intown parking
Tip: Older intown neighborhoods like Cabbagetown, Kirkwood, and Grant Park may have narrow streets, alleys, or cars packed curb-to-curb. Let us know in advance if a flatbed might have trouble, and we’ll coordinate the best access point or alternate loading location nearby.
Gated communities, condos, and parking decks
Tip: In Midtown high-rises, Buckhead condos, or gated communities in areas like Vinings or Dunwoody, tow trucks sometimes can’t enter without codes or clearance. Share gate codes, concierge info, and deck height limits so your driver can get in and safely reach your reserved space.
Permit-only street parking and HOA rules
Tip: Some Atlanta neighborhoods and suburbs have permit-only or time-limited parking, plus HOA restrictions on towing. Check your HOA or city rules in places like Decatur, Brookhaven, or Smyrna, and let us know if permits or special arrangements are needed so pickup isn’t delayed or ticketed.
Rural or outlying North and South Georgia addresses
Tip: If you’re well outside the I-285 Perimeter—near Cartersville, Newnan, Covington, or up toward Gainesville—tow routing may take a bit longer. We still aim for prompt, free pickup, but flexible timing helps us match you with the right local operator for your area.
If at-home pickup is tricky
If at-home pickup is tricky—for example, your car is locked in a tight Midtown deck, an underground garage in Buckhead, or a steep driveway in North Georgia—we’ll talk through options with you. Sometimes a building manager can move the vehicle to a street-level spot, or a friend can meet the tow driver at a nearby accessible location. In some cases, we can schedule pickup from a repair shop or storage lot in Atlanta or a nearby suburb where the vehicle can be safely loaded.
Atlanta pickup coverage
Wheels of Change serves all of Metro Atlanta, including intown neighborhoods like West Midtown, Reynoldstown, and East Atlanta Village; northside communities such as Sandy Springs, Roswell, and Alpharetta; and south and west suburbs like Union City, Douglasville, and Fayetteville. Pickup in dense areas inside the Perimeter (I-285) can often be arranged quickly, while more rural parts of North and South Georgia may need extra routing time. In Georgia, you generally sign your GA title over to the charity and remove your license plates; the donor is responsible for handling any registration or plate return with the Georgia DDS/DMV.
